A Relaxing Retreat: A vibrant garden design with an oriental feel in Churchtown, Merseyside

Brian and Maureen approached us to design the garden for their forever home in Churchtown. They rarely used their existing garden and wished to create a space that would encourage them to spend more time outdoors.

Their vision included a meandering garden that offered vibrant colours, supported wildlife, included elements of movement and water, and had an oriental feel.

They wanted various features to create different experiences throughout the garden, making it a place of relaxation and enjoyment.

How we delivered the garden design of their dreams

Meandering Pathway:

We designed a winding pathway that leads visitors through different sections of the garden, creating a sense of journey and discovery.

Large Paved Area for Entertaining:

A spacious, beautifully paved area was included for hosting guests and strategically placed lighting for evening gatherings.

Small Seating Area:

For moments of quiet reflection, we installed a secluded seating area surrounded by fragrant plants and soft foliage, providing a serene retreat within the garden.

Memorial Water Feature:

To remember loved ones, we created a tranquil memorial water feature. This element serves as a focal point and offers the soothing sound of water, enhancing the garden’s peaceful ambiance.

Japanese-Style Gravel Garden:

An oriental touch was achieved with a carefully designed Japanese-style gravel garden, incorporating traditional elements like raked gravel, stones, and minimalistic planting.

Raised Beds for Feature Planting:

We added raised beds, allowing for diverse and dynamic planting arrangements. These beds highlight seasonal plants and provide easy access for maintenance.

Pergola for Shade:

A pergola was constructed to offer shaded areas and create a cosy, intimate atmosphere.

Colourful Planting Scheme:

To attract wildlife and ensure year-round interest, we implemented a vibrant planting scheme. This included a variety of flowering plants, shrubs, and trees that bloom in different seasons.

Our process

Initial Consultation:

During our first meeting with Brian and Maureen, we discussed their vision and specific requirements. Understanding their desire to use the garden more and their aesthetic preferences guided our design approach.

Design Concept and Walk-Through:

We presented a detailed design concept, which Brian and Maureen were excited about. A video walk-through helped them visualise the different elements and overall flow of the garden.
